Summary

The Director of ABC Pre-School is responsible for planning, developing and implementing school functions related to curriculum, instruction and student supervision, student development and public relations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Supervise the delivery of instruction to students ensuring that teachers focus on the district curriculum as well as meeting individual needs of students. 
  2. Evaluate teaching performance to identify strengths and areas for growth in implementing best practices.
  3. Create a positive, informed climate for collegial learning including on-going professional development opportunities for staff.
  4. Facilitate the development of a shared mission and vision and communicates it to the community.
  5. Implement programs within established standards, Board of Education policies, administrative regulations and state laws as they apply to the local school.
  6. Apply current principles and techniques of staffing, selection, orientation/induction, assignment, supervision, evaluation, motivation, and termination of personnel.
  7. Create and updates student and staff handbooks.
  8. Attend such activities as board meetings, student activities and events and IEP meetings as required.
  9. Manage auxiliary programs (such as transportation, facilities, food services, pupil personnel services) within the scope of his/her responsibilities.
  10. Direct and coordinate the preparation and maintenance of school records for students, staff and facilities and equipment.
  11. Manage an efficient office and record-keeping system.
  12. Assist in maintaining high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline in accordance with the District’s Code of Conduct and the due process of rights of students.
  13. Promote partnerships among staff, parents, business and the community that support the District’s vision statement and strategic goals.
  14. Promote positive relations within the District through actions that support and strengthen the organization.
  15. Communicate with other schools in the District and coordinates activities with the central office.
  16. Demonstrate sound resource management and fiscal responsibility that meet the requirements of daily operations and of long-term goals within established guidelines.
  17. Create an atmosphere in which school personnel, students, parents and patrons are comfortable initiating communication with the building administrators.
  18. Communicate clearly, directly and responsively.
  19. Keep appropriate information confidential as required by law, policy or a particular situation.
  20. Keep appropriate audiences informed of essential information.
  21. Work with students, staff and parents to establish and maintain a safe, clean environment.
  22. Display and maintains ethical behaviors that demonstrate commitment to students, school programs, personnel, and continuous growth.
  23. Comply with all Riverview School Board of Education policies.
  24. Perform other duties as assigned assistant superintendent and/or superintendent.
